Not at all! Our Beginner Wheel Throwing Course is designed for complete beginners. We'll guide you through the fundamentals of wheel throwing in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Clay can be a little messy! We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and bringing your own apron (optional). If you have long hair, please come to sessions with hair tied back and lastly, short fingernails are highly recommended and make wheel throwing a bit easier.

Your class includes instruction, clay, use of studio tools and equipment, glazing, and kiln firing of your selected pieces unless otherwise noted.

Our introductory course meets once a week for six weeks. You'll learn the basics of wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing while building confidence and creating your own handmade pottery.

We highly encourage students to attend every class, especially the first session. Our beginner courses are designed to build one skill upon the next, so each week lays the foundation for the following lesson. Missing a class may make it more difficult to keep up with the course. Because of our class structure and limited studio schedule, missed classes cannot be made up, rescheduled, credited, or refunded. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to register for a session that fits comfortably within your schedule so you can enjoy the full experience.

Studio Memberships are available to students who have successfully completed our 6-week Beginner Wheel Throwing Course. Members can reserve independent studio sessions to continue practicing their skills while enjoying access to our community studio, pottery wheels, and shared tools.

For safety and to ensure everyone has a positive experience, independent studio access is reserved for students who have completed our introductory wheel throwing course or have prior experience approved by the studio.

To ensure compatibility with our kiln and firing schedule, only clay purchased through Gypsy Soul Pottery may be used in the studio.

Pottery takes time! After your final class, pieces typically take 2-4 weeks to dry, be fired, glazed, and fired again before they're ready for pickup.

All registrations are non-refundable. If you're unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible.

While we don't currently offer a military discount, we've intentionally kept our pricing as affordable as possible so that pottery classes are accessible to everyone in our community. As the wife of a 100% disabled Air Force veteran, supporting military families is something that's very close to my heart, and keeping our prices low year-round is our way of serving the community as a whole.

While Gypsy Soul Pottery is primarily an adult creative space, with most classes designed for ages 18 and older, we hope to occasionally open our studio for special family, youth, and children's workshops. Any age-specific events will be clearly marked so everyone can find the experience that's right for them.
